Hi Team,
I’ve a few questions about the AWS Open Core model. We’re currently using CloudQuery CLI to sync AWS-related information.
- Does the new Open Core pricing model apply for CLI users?
- Are there any limits on the number of resources synced on tables marked as free?
- If a table is marked as premium, are we not eligible to sync them for free even when we’re using old plugin versions?
Appreciate the response, and let me know if you need any other info from me.
Hey Jay!
- Plugins pricing is unrelated to CLI - CLI and SDKs are open source, so if you use your own plugins, there is nothing we can charge for.
- There are no limits on free tables.
- If you are using an old version where that table wasn’t paid, then it’s not paid. We changed the split recently to make the business model work - full details here: CloudQuery Pricing Changes.
Happy to provide support during the transition or extended trials.
@yevgenyp Thanks for the response. To confirm my understanding, I sync/used to sync these tables aws_ecr_repositories
& aws_ecr_repository_images
with AWS version v22.19.2 & CQ CLI version 5.3.0. As these tables seem premium now, if I continue using these specific versions of the AWS plugin & CQ CLI plugin, there’s nothing to pay or change, right?
Yes, you can also update the CLI version; it won’t have an impact on the plugin version. As long as you keep AWS v22.19.2, then it will be free.
Having said that, we don’t backport fixes to old versions, so if you need new functionality or fixes, you might still need to upgrade. However, if the current version works, then it’s all good.
