Question about the latest free version of opencore aws source plugin

Hello CQ folks,

Question about the OpenCore AWS source plugin.

Is the last true free version V22.19.2? I was looking at the GitHub repo and this version is the last one to be there.

Hi  Yes, that’s true here. You can see newer versions in this link. Also, the reasoning behind the change can be found here.

So, by using the CloudQuery registry, is login via the CLI a must? We are using the free version - AWS v16.2.0 and CLI v3.20 in a production environment. We want to start upgrading to the latest version and are evaluating where/if to upgrade to premium.

Yes, cloudquery login is required for using the latest versions of the plugins (see Mandatory Login).

Could you share your use case a bit? What are you using CloudQuery for? That should help us explain what to expect from the upgrade.

Hello CQ folks, upgrading from free to paid.

We are using CloudQuery mainly for security audit purposes. So, ingesting data from AWS to Snowflake, and we have alerts based on the data.

My team and I are afraid of the breaking changes to upgrade to the latest since we are behind a considerable amount of major versions.

Got it, there’s a contact us form at CloudQuery Pricing, so feel free to explain your needs there. They can guide you in the upgrade process.

Specifically for AWS, we made some changes in recent versions to help with schema migrations and breaking changes. So once you do upgrade, future updates will be easier.

will it be relevant to reference this conversation there?

Once you submit the information in the contact us form - https://cloudquery.typeform.com/to/UrgOydHV, sales and sales engineers will be looped in to share information on pricing and guide you on the best way to upgrade with minimal effects on your production environment.
